These photographs are taken in and outside the home of the subject in the last image. This young man lives in Langa Township in South Africa, just outside Cape Town.
The group I was with was invited into this home by his mother, in order that we might understand how they live. This was an uneasy experience for all of us (a tour group organised as part of the recent International Society for Theoretical Psychology Conference in Cape Town). But, as I think this last image shows, it was even more unsettling for this young man. |
